Abstract of the article: The Effectiveness of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy on Adolescents’ Cognitive Emotion Regulation
The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of cognitive behavioral therapy on adolescents’ cognitive emotion regulation. From the standpoint of purpose, the study is applied, and in terms of the method of execution, it is a quasi-experimental study with a pretest–posttest design and a control group. The statistical population of this study consisted of all male students aged 14 to 17 in the city of Qom. From among them, using convenience sampling, 30 male adolescents who had lower than average emotional adjustment were identified with the help of the school principal and relevant teachers and selected as the sample size. The data collection tool included the questionnaire cognitive emotion regulation (Garnefski and Kraaij, 2006). The experimental group received the intervention of cognitive behavioral therapy in eight 2-hour sessions, but the control group received no intervention. The results of covariance analysis showed that cognitive behavioral therapy has a significant effect on adolescents’ cognitive emotion regulation.
